Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission, the reimagining of the cult classic arcade game developed and published by TAITO in 1987, has been confirmed to be released for VR platforms this year in June.
Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission is the remake of Operation Wolf, one of the first games to offer side-scrolling rail shooting action that shaped the genre. It was developed by Virtuallyz Gaming, and although it has a brand-new look and a leaderboard, it maintains the same core gameplay elements of the original game, which had a magnificent action environment inspired by action films from the 1980s.
In Fall 2023, Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission will be available both physically and digitally for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, and exclusively in digital form on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Today, publisher Microids announced to launch a VR version of Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission. It will be available on June 22nd for Meta Quest 2, PlayStation VR2, and Pico 4.
In Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission‘s solo VR campaign, players will take on the role of a special agent fighting a new criminal organization. Apart from arms and drug trafficking, the new criminal organization, led by the enigmatic General Viper, has created a new lethal weapon. Following the discovery of many of its facilities, the special agent will be sent to dismantle the organization, destroy the weapon, and liberate the captives held imprisoned in nearby camps.
Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission brings a fresh visual approach and parody-style voices. This remake, similar to the original, features gameplay centered on nonstop action. Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission includes a campaign that can be played solo or with two players, as well as a Survival mode that challenges players to fight waves of enemies.
Pre-orders for the physical edition of Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission is now available on Amazon, which is priced at £34.99 / $44.10. You may also add it to your Steam and PlayStation Store wishlist to be alerted when it becomes available for PC and PlayStation consoles.
