Hype for the brand new Overwatch title is clearly through the roof, as the Overwatch 2 beta has shattered Overwatch’s all-time view numbers with an incredible 1+ MILLION viewers. That’s right: The highly anticipated Overwatch sequel has over 1 million concurrent viewers, more than any other game on Twitch. These numbers project great sales for the game when it is finally released.
The website TwitchTracker gives us some insight into Overwatch’s view numbers, and we can see that the 1+ million viewers announcement is no exaggeration. At the time of writing, Overwatch has 1,026,418 concurrent viewers, as you can see in the graphs below.

This shatters Overwatch’s previous all-time peak viewership. This exciting new milestone for Overwatch represents a renewed interest in the game, meaning that player numbers for Overwatch must also be going up.
With over 5,428,595 hours of content watched over the last 7 days, it is almost hard to imagine how anyone could watch so much of a game. This watch time is spread over 1,200+ live channels, with streams like xQcOW, A_Seagull, and mL7support leading the pack.
The highly anticipated Beta was released on April 26th, giving players the first taste of the game, and is solely responsible for the huge uptick in Twitch viewership. Players aren’t just resigned to watching though, as anyone who owns a copy of Overwatch can opt into the open beta with their Battle.Net account.
As for the full release of Overwatch 2, we still have some time to go. Blizzard has confirmed that the game won’t be released until 2023, meaning that despite the impressiveness of the beta there is still a significant amount of work to be done on the game.
This makes it a great time to get into Overwatch, if you are someone who has yet to play the game. Those who are only interested in Overwatch 2’s multiplayer experience are in luck, for the multiplayer part of the game will be free to anyone who already owns the original Overwatch game. Buying Overwatch now will not only grant you access to Overwatch 2’s multiplayer at a cheaper price, it will also give you some time to train up so you can dominate when Overwatch 2’s multiplayer goes live.
