Roblox as a platform has been experiencing a surge in brand influence in the last couple of years. With many dipping their toes in the water by bringing collections of purchasable clothes, events, and games. These have been met with varied responses, as the games have been fairly underwhelming but there have been some standouts. This leads us to the announcement that the retailer Pacsun has created their own experience on Roblox where players can create their own mall.

Here are a few details from the press release:

PACWORLD allows players to create a unique hub, intersecting fashion technology and community. Within the social environment, customers find community in this space, leaning on the metaverse’s strong network effects. Players are the owner and operators of a new mall, and it is their objective to make the mall as profitable and popular as possible. Players will be able to create and remove shops, upgrade the shops that do well, decorate the mall to try and attract more customers, and even invite their friends to visit their mall.

The game is what is known as a tycoon, which allows players to earn in-game money that they can use to expand their very own mall by purchasing expansions. There is a level of customization involved, where players can choose the stores that will appear in their specific mall. As they grow their mall, they will gain money faster, which allows for further expansion!

While Pacsun has not yet released purchasable clothing with Roblox’s digital currency Robux, you can likely expect that to be a future addition to their catalogue as their presence matures on the platform.
