Developer Channel 3 Entertainment has announced a publishing partnership with Paradox Interactive for its upcoming first-person factory building simulation title, FOUNDRY. Alongside this announcement, a new trailer was revealed, offering a closer look at some gameplay mechanics.
FOUNDRY immerses players in an endless procedurally generated voxel world where they will mine resources, craft machinery, and automate their research to progress through the game. Players will face logistic challenges as they plan and build a conveyor belt and pipe network. They will also manage a complex power system and expand their constantly growing production lines.
Starting small by crafting items and machines by hand, players will eventually see their setup grow into a massive sci-fi factory that does the work for them. To expand the factory, players will need to build more production lines, conveyor belts, and pipes while keeping a stable power supply for their growing energy demands. Through conducting research, players will unlock more advanced, complex, and faster technology to optimize the design and maximize the output of their factory.
Each playthrough in FOUNDRY begins in a different procedurally generated voxel world where every block can be destroyed and new terrain or buildings can be placed to shape the worlds. Players have the freedom to build their sprawling factory on a mountain, in the jungle, or inside the deepest mine.
FOUNDRY is playable in both single-player and cooperative modes, supporting online and offline through LAN networking for multiplayer. While there are no specific player limits, the developers recommend playing with 2-4 players for the best experience.
FOUNDRY draws inspiration from beloved titles like Satisfactory and Minecraft, suggesting a promising experience for factory-building and sandbox enthusiasts. However, as a debut project of a newly-created studio, it remains to be seen how well the game will be executed.
FOUNDRY is still in active development and will soon be available for PC via Steam. A demo version will be available for free during Steam Next Fest, from October 9 to October 16.
