Paradox Interactive has officially introduced its upcoming space base-building game, Starminer. This new title from publishing label Paradox Arc and developer CoolAndGoodGames is set to make its debut in the early access phase on PC via Steam in 2024.
In the world of Starminer, players will assume the role of an interstellar contractor. Players will start their galactic journey with a singular small node ship, which they will use to gather resources from nearby asteroid fields and grow their ship and fleet. As players mine resources for profit, become a defensive powerhouse, and promote colonization, they must remain vigilant as alien threats intensify with each expansion, tracking their heat signature.
Starminer offers an immersive space adventure experience, allowing players to feel their pulse quicken as they pilot a 150,000-ton warship through the vacuum of space in real-time, through its fully simulated physics. Throughout the game, players will balance material requirements with power, tonnage, and size while building their fleet to maximum efficiency. Players will also conduct research for new modules and tools to enhance the fleet and establish link gates to unlock new opportunities in uncharted sectors of space.
However, with increased mining and expansion, the greedier players get, which results in a growing heat signature. Once it reaches critical levels, the alien threat becomes imminent, requiring players to defend their fleets at any cost, utilizing customized defense systems and ships.
Paradox Interactive has yet again demonstrated that strategy and management games are its heart and soul with the reveal of Starminer. Over the years, the company has launched numerous successful franchises in this genre, including Cities: Skylines, Crusader Kings, and Stellaris. Consequently, many in its community look forward to what Paradox Interactive has in store next, and so far, Starminer seems to be shaping up as a promising addition to its portfolio.
