Pigeon Simulator, an upcoming adventure RPG that takes a page (or few) from Goat Simulator, has shown off their latest development updates with a comedy sketch. This includes early gameplay footage, showcasing new pigeon abilities, detailed enemies, props, and even the controls.

No release window has been announced yet, but Pigeon Simulator can be wishlisted now on Steam. You can watch the full devblog on publisher tinyBuild Games’ official YouTube channel here:

Pigeon Simulator was developed by HakJak, the indie studio behind Gust and Glory, a chaotic racing game full of lethal obstacles and bloody death. The small title has maintained pretty high ratings on Steam, so they seem primed to visit the Goat Simulator sub-genre of maniacal sandbox destruction with a simulated animal.

Pigeons were a smart direction to take, given their poor reputation and interesting habits. Today’s big devblog may be presented as two pigeons taking a man hostage and demanding information about the game, but it actually revealed a surprising amount of in-progress gameplay.

Everything has been polished, and some of the smaller details, such as carried objects moving between your beak and your feet, are really coming together.

Exploring and tearing apart an interactive environment is most of the fun in these animal simulator games, so it’s nice to get an idea of what kind of content will be available. This includes randomly generated terrain tiles, full interiors, and flora that color the settings and ground them in some reality.

The boss revealed today looks promising, as do the myriad of supernatural pigeon abilities, which are surely the natural highlight. Like Goat Simulator, the devs have leaned into their sense of humor, which is always subjective and will be key for the game to distinguish itself. Games like this thrive as an oddity.
