The Necromancer has been having a good year with its popularity in Blizzard’s Diablo 4 and even a game devoted to the class. The early access pixel title The Unliving has announced its latest update released today, titled Apex Necromancy, and it brings a new end-game mode that adds extra challenge for players who beat the final boss among other additions.

The new Vow of Decide mode becomes available after players beat the final boss and it allows players to continue to fight enemies using the skills acquired during the game. In addition to that, there are some standard quality-of-life improvements like increasing melee units’ movement speed and allowing weaker units to merge together to create more powerful fighters.

There are a handful of changes in addition to the new mode, and they include:

  • Improved mobility for melee units
  • Gain unique Necromantic Powers upgrades by resurrecting enemies
  • As you resurrect more enemies, they’ll merge together to make stronger types
  • Reach milestones to unlock research that will make your necromancer stronger
  • New rewards have been added for Grimoire Restoration and Throne Essence

The Unliving allows players to command their own massive armies of the undead to take on different foes, kind of in the reverse of Vampire Survivors. The beautiful pixel art is very animated and detailed, providing a unique visual experience that players who are new and familiar with the genre are likely to appreciate.

Since The Unliving is still in early access, it’s unlikely that this is the last major update, with the title from Rocket Brush still needing to release its 1.0 version.
