PlayStation has revealed a new lineup of four PS VR2 titles including Tiger Blade, Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, Pixel Ripped 1995, and The 7th Guest VR. Although none of these titles have a release date in today’s official blog post, they have each revealed their own announcement trailers.
Tiger Blade
This upcoming first-person action shooter from Ikimasho and Big Sugar is set to arrive sometime this year. According to the new trailer description, it’s inspired by “Korean neo-noir action cinema”. This results in a slick, surprisingly fluid motion that combines melee and gunplay. The environments also look gorgeous and packed with cultural personality.
Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate
This is a highly anticipated remake of the time travel adventure Wanderer, which became an instant classic when it launched last year. The remake is now slated for 2024, and mostly seems interested in reimagining the story via new developments in VR.
Ideally, the devs won’t alter too much. The original was able to carefully balance heart, action and creative puzzles, blending thought-provoking themes with the adventure of an Indiana Jones film.
Pixel Ripped 1995
The Pixel Ripped franchise is actually another time travel adventure, though it’s more interested in blending outright nostalgia with an emotional and relatable narrative. The new game announcement actually coincides with today’s launch of Pixel Ripped 1978.
These are clever little games that heavily feature nostalgic elements without actually relying on them, which is always a relief. The 1995 installment is coming soon to PS VR2, but available now on Meta Quest, or the PC and PS4 for those who haven’t invested in a headset yet.
The 7th Guest VR
PlayStation continues the 90’s nostalgia with The 7th Guest, an interactive puzzle adventure throwback to the early days of the decade. It’s yet another terrifying mansion, but the VR footage looks like a fantastic reimagining of a trailblazing title. The VR version is coming sometime this year.
