Deliver us the Moon, which released three years ago, is finally getting the sequel Deliver Us Mars on PlayStation with many new features and mechanics.

Here’s the official tweet, revealing a brief clip of the Red Planet in their new sci-fi adventure:

The original game was something of a sleeper indie hit because of the mystery, mood and puzzle elements.

This approach to the genre caters to fans of classic space cinema that’s grounded in realism or science, as in The Martiain or Interstellar. Lone exploration and survival are also a highlight of other space exploration games like Astroneer and No Man’s Sky.

New Story, Features and Mechanics

A new promo video for Deliver Us Mars has been showcased on the official PlayStation blog post, which discusses a few of the new features in the anticipated sequel.

However, the promo kicks off with the promise for an engaging story, set 10 years after the original game. This angle should definitely invite a wider audience. Many times, the space exploration sub-genre relies on atmosphere and has very little plot.

Instead, Deliver Us Mars will introduce a completely motion-captured cast, hoping to concentrate more on the characters. This will mainly involve a family, centering on a father-daughter relationship.

But the scope of the plot still has massive stakes, as players will adventure on Mars to recover technology from three stolen colony ships that might rescue Earth from its failing environment.

The promo also promises that the graphics and camerawork will be more immersive this time around. There will be real-time ray traced shadows, and a greater variety of scenery. Through heavy research, Deliver Us Mars hopes to create a genuine astronaut experience.

To that end, the game will also add better traversal mechanics such as a new climbing system, all inspired by the likes of Tomb Raider and Uncharted. The movement is a highlight of those adventure games, raising expectations for a similar experience in space.

The promo concludes with a tease for fans to expect new announcements in the nearing months. You can find more updates about indie games and Triple A titles alike in our news section!
