Since Forspoken is just a few months away from being released, PlayStation has shared more details about the contents to expect in the new action role-playing game by Luminous Productions.

Forspoken follows the journey of Frey, a young New Yorker transported to the beautiful and cruel land of Athia. PlayStation has also outlined all activities Frey can dive into in Forspoken. The following are the 10 things that player may do in the world of Athia, as posted on PlayStation’s website:

  • Monuments
  • Flashbacks
  • Founts of Blessing
  • Spellcraft Challenges
  • Old Coins and Trading Spots
  • Locked Labyrinths
  • Partha
  • Photo Spots
  • Tantas’ Familiars
  • Combat Challenges

Monuments are sacred stones that contain a portion of the Tantas’ power. If Frey can free them from the corruption of the Break, she will be rewarded with significant stat bonuses. Some monuments feature challenges known as Flashbacks. These transport players to a previous period in Athia’s history. Completing Flashbacks will award Mana (for unlocking new spells) and additional goodies.

The world of Athia also features Founts of Blessing, which grant Frey a blessing that enhances her magical abilities. These are also essential for expanding Frey’s skill set, providing her with brand-new spells to add to her arsenal. Spellcraft Challenges are another method for improving Frey’s magic. Within Refuges (a safe location where Frey can rest and manufacture stuff), players will find ancient books that require them to use their abilities in various ways. Completing Spellcraft Challenges will boost abilities.

Players can also acquire Old Coins, which can be found in locked chests or tucked away in the landscape’s nooks and crannies. At trading spots, these coins can be exchanged for valuable products that can enhance crafting and more.

Locked Labyrinths are buried underground throughout the world of Athia. These are extremely perilous to explore, as they consist of expansive rooms and winding passageways filled with precious artifacts, crafting supplies, and extremely hazardous monsters. Players will have to all their combat skills, some magical parkour, to make it through to the powerful mini-boss that lurks within.

The world of Forspoken also features Partha, which are dice-like objects made from animal bones. If they land on a symbol, they grant Frey advantageous bonuses. For example, rolling a spear will enhance her magical abilities, while a seed will grant her the capacity to restore health. Athia’s world is also filled with photo spots that display the world’s awe-inspiring architecture and breathtaking surroundings. Utilize parkour to reach these spots for the perfect photo.

Typically, Tantas’ Familiars are spotted lurking around special monuments. These magical cats are somewhat timid, so they must be approached with caution. Meanwhile, the Break that wrecked the land of Forspoken has twisted its beasts into terrible, rage-filled monsters. But among this threatening menagerie are even more twisted creatures – a type of Breakbeasts of the highest order. Taking down one of these super-powerful foes will give rewards.

Forspoken is scheduled to be released on January 24, 2023, on PlayStation 5 and Windows. The game will be a PlayStation 5 console exclusive for two years.
