Horizon Call of the Mountain is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite. The game was first announced during Sony’s January 2022 CES 2022 press conference and was said to be a spin-off of the Horizon series. Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment will release the game in February 22, 2023 as the debut title for the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset.

Sony has been sharing glimpses of Horizon Call of the Mountain for the past several months. In a recent post on the official PlayStation Blog website, Sony gives an in-depth look at Ryas, the protagonist of the next adventure in the Horizon universe.

The story of Horizon Call of the Mountain follows the protagonist, Ryas, a former Shadow Carja rebel. Ryas has been condemned to atone for his crimes related to his role in the abduction of young Prince Itamen. In order for Ryas to regain his honor as a master climber, archer, and hunter, Sun-King Avad and Blameless Marad have recruited him to join in an expedition that has been ordered to investigate a new threat to the Sundom.

Ryas is about to embark on a perilous journey, and while he may be the only one capable of completing the task, he won’t be going on this journey by himself. During the course of his adventures, Ryas will cross paths with a number of new and recurring characters, including the series’ main protagonist, Aloy.

Horizon: Call of the Mountain will provide players with a fresh look at the Horizon universe, thanks to the addition of Ryas as a compelling new protagonist and the capabilities of the PlayStation VR2 headset. Players will experience an unprecedented level of immersion as they take on the role of Ryas owing to PS VR2’s cutting-edge technologies, including haptic feedback, intelligent eye tracking, and an ultra-wide field of view.

You may pre-order Horizon: Call of the Mountain now on the PlayStation store.
