PlayStation has revealed in a new blog post that the PlayStation 5 will receive a Limited Edition Console Cover and Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller, made in collaboration with LeBron James. The accessories are both slated to release in select markets on July 27th, 2023.
The Console Cover will launch in the U.S. and players can directly pre-order it from PlayStation later this week, on June 29th, 2023. Its expected price will be $64.99.
The DualSense Wireless Controller will release in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Benelux. Pre-orders for the controller also begin on June 29th, and it currently has a suggested retail price of $79.99. PlayStation fans in Canada can also pre-order the controller on June 29th. These accessories have a conveniently consistent art design, so that fans who invest in both will have a distinct set. The cosmetics look fairly straightforward, with a few notable phrases and familiar icons. However, the way the classic PlayStation iconography has been integrated with the crown is very clever.
The Controller is a little busy, but the Console Cover looks very tidy and sleek, and both of them deliver just the right amount of color. The contrast of the white text also creates a natural emphasis on the most charged phrases.
Ultimately, although the new PS5 accessories may not be especially surprising, they combine the brands well enough. There are inspiring messages, and their font feels both sporty and down-to-Earth. This is a monumental collaboration, as LeBron James continues to inspire well beyond athleticism. Their influence and involvement will surely be enough for most fans to check these accessories out.
