Pokémon Go has officially announced that the next Community Day event in will feature Starly, running between 11 AM and 2 PM local time on July 17th.
Here’s the official announcement, which also reveals that players can now encounter a shiny version too:
This new Community Day for Pokémon Go has fans divided, especially since the previous Deino event was an undeniable hit. Most fans are feeling somewhat frustrated that Starly is the latest addition to the series of events, despite adding a new shiny for the game.
Although Starly may be some kind of reference to the stars and stripes of the Fourth of July, players are basically uninterested in the basic Pokémon. Flying types are generally fragile, and there are countless alternatives that fans have been begging for.
Community Day update details
As usual, players are more likely to encounter the featured Pokémon in the wild. Starly’s featured attack will be “Gust”, with 16 power for trainer battles and 25 for Gyms or Raids.
Various bonuses will also be available, with increased XP, candy, and item durations. For example, players will be twice as likely to get double Starly Candy XL when catching a Starly.
Fans will also be allowed an extra special trade, and all trades during the event will cost half as much Stardust. When trainers share a Lure Module, catching enough Pokémon will create an XP bonus.
Starly’s evolved form, Staravia, will appear in four-star raids. Defeating one of these will make Starly appear in a 300-meter radius for half an hour. This continues the tried-and-true formula of focusing all Community Day efforts on boosting opportunities for a shiny.
