Pokémon Go has revealed a new event schedule for May's content, including a divisive Raid Day.

Pokémon Go, the augmented reality hit from Niantic, has just released the full event schedule for all of May’s upcoming content. This includes the five-star raids, Mega Raids, Spotlight hours, events and more. The May update will run through June 1st and finally close out the Rising Heroes season. Here’s the full announcement and schedule from the official Pokémon Go Twitter feed:

Perhaps the most interesting highlight of today’s reveal is the undisclosed event slated for May 22nd. It’ll run for a week, so it can’t just be another Community Day Classic. Instead, it will likely be something quite specific, like the Sustainability Week event that started just last week and features Shaymin.

Sadly, that’s probably where the excitement will end. There aren’t any real surprises here, and there has been a tremendous amount of fan backlash over the Raid features. So, players don’t really want to see an emphasis on five-stars, Mega Raids, and Raid Days when they feel troublesome.

In fact, the Raid Days may have even been some sort of intentional, adamant statement about the recent changes. That wouldn’t necessarily be out of the question following the recent Niantic controversies.

The spotlights for May will mostly feature older gen Pokémon, and they’re hardly considered rare. Fans are likely to be disappointed, regardless of shiny versions.

Pokémon Go has earned plenty of fans, most of whom are casual gamers that are likely to continue playing regardless of the content. Sometimes, that encourages devs to go about simple routines. But there’s still an opportunity for the devs to engage with the community a bit more and improve. In the meantime, fans still hope to hear more about a new Go Fest.
