Pokémon Go has just released a new cinematic trailer for Season 9, “Mythical Wishes”. The new season is scheduled to roll out on December 1st, 2022. The trailer features massive additions to the game, emphasizing Gen 3’s starters and legendary Pokémon. This includes Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, hotly anticipated twists on the faces of Ruby and Sapphire.

If you’re already the very best in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and caught up with all the latest Pokemon additions, then look to Pokémon Go for some of the best nostalgia bait Pokémon fans could hope for.

Today’s trailer is brimming with nods to classic Gen 3 Pokémon. Fans also quickly noted a reference to Gen 3’s opening game cinematic, with a trainer riding their bike alongside Manetric and Flygon. Seeing that recreated with today’s graphics is surprisingly satisfying.

Just when the November content roadmap resulted in widespread disappointment due to its redundancy, Pokémon Go reminds fans why it has legs. Its potential can sometimes be largely untapped, but when the devs take one good direction, it’s utterly reinvigorating.

The Gen 3 starters alone would be a perfect selling point to reinvest in the game, which requires a lot of attention and travel. It’s always great to see Ruby and Sapphire get some love. They added some extraordinary features to the series, including hideouts, engaging weather changes, compelling villains and a gripping emphasis on nature.

Despite the ample opportunities for new Pokémon in Season 9’s Mythical Wishes, it says nothing about the gameplay itself. Hopefully, Season 9 will fix up some of the smaller issues fans have brought up lately, such as inconvenient release times and more.
