Pokemon player catches shiny Rayquaza with a Quick Ball

A player was able to nab themselves a shiny Rayquaza with the use of the trusty Quick Ball in Pokemon!

Shiny Pokemon are pretty hard to find, which is not a particularly controversial statement. When you do find them, you need to be careful when you attempt to catch one. One player, however, decided they’d go ahead and give a Quick Ball a try when they encountered the Legendary Rayquaza in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

The results of the toss, well… they were quite good, because they managed to nab this super rare Pokemon in just one throw. That certainly makes things a lot easier than having to carefully take down its health and hope that one of your throws nabs it before they can do something silly like faint themselves.

This Rayquaza, however, was all too willing to go along for the ride and succumbed to a Quick Ball that was thrown on the first turn. While the catch rate is higher on these when used this way, it was still a pretty unlikely outcome, because Rayquaza is a Legendary which has a lower rate of catch compared to normal Pokemon.

Are Quick Balls broken? Not really. The player got considerably lucky catching it on their first try. Not to mention, while Rayquaza is a Legendary and has a lower catch rate than usual, it is actually fairly high compared to other Legendary Pokemon. Rayquaza for instance, has an 11.9% catch rate, compared to something like Groudon which has a rate all the way down at 1.6%!

Before you ask, yes you can catch Rayquaza in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. You just need to head to Ramanas Park and have the Stratospheric Slate!
