Possible animated project coming soon from PlayStation Productions

PlayStation Productions is venturing into animation, with several new projects in development alongside previously revealed film and television adaptations of popular video game franchises.

PlayStation Productions is reportedly working on 10 projects at various stages of development, including animation, film, and television adaptations of popular video game franchises. Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions, recently mentioned on the Official PlayStation Podcast that there was a “little bit of animation” being worked on as well as live action.

The known projects in development include:

Television Series:

  1. The Last of Us Season 2
  2. Twisted Metal, set to premiere on Peacock in 2023, currently in post-production
  3. God of War, in development for Amazon Prime Video
  4. Horizon, in development for Netflix


  1. Gran Turismo, scheduled for release on August 11, 2023
  2. Days Gone, currently in development
  3. Ghost of Tsushima, currently in development
  4. Gravity Rush, currently in development

The possible animation project is still unknown at this time, but suggestions by fans have mentioned the possibility of IPs, such as Destiny and Jak and Daxter. However, Gravity Rush could also be animated, as it is unclear how it will be filmed. The animation project marks a new direction for PlayStation Productions, expanding their reach within the entertainment industry.

Gran Turismo, currently in production is scheduled for release on August 11, 2023. Film adaptations of Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, and Gravity Rush are also in the works. In February 2022, a Jak and Daxter film adaptation was revealed to be in development with Uncharted director Ruben Fleischer collaborating with Naughty Dog.

The first television series from PlayStation Productions, an adaptation of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, aired on HBO from January 15, 2023, to March 12, 2023. HBO later announced the series’ renewal for a second season in January 2023. Twisted Metal has completed filming and will be released on Peacock in 2023. Live-action television series based on the God of War franchise for Amazon Prime Video and the Horizon series for Netflix are also in development.
