Fantasian, a turn-based role-playing video game, is rumored to be making its way to PC via Steam. Originally released exclusively for Apple Arcade in 2021, the game was developed and published by Hawaii-based studio Mistwalker, led by the renowned game creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who is best known as the creator of the iconic Final Fantasy series.
Reports of Fantasian‘s possible PC release surfaced when keen-eyed Twitter user, Knoebel, spotted the game listed on the SteamDB website. The listing has fueled excitement among fans who have been eagerly anticipating the game’s launch on other platforms.
Earlier this year, Sakaguchi expressed his interest in bringing Fantasian to PC (via IGN Japan), acknowledging the numerous requests for its release on the platform. Furthermore, there were subtle hints at a potential sequel in the works, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Currently, neither Mistwalker nor Hironobu Sakaguchi himself has issued an official announcement, confirming the validity of the reports regarding Fantasian‘s availability on PC. As such, fans are left with no choice but to patiently await official updates, which are expected to be shared on Mistwalker’s website and social channels.
Fantasian offers an exciting gameplay experience set in a world crafted from nearly 160 handmade dioramas that blend physical environments and 3D characters. It takes players on an epic adventure, lasting between 60 to 90 hours, with the first part more focused on the story and the latter half more quest-driven, granting players the freedom to explore its world.
Sakaguchi’s expertise shines through in Fantasian‘s mechanics, as he introduces quality-of-life improvements to the classic JRPG genre. This includes the “Dimengeon Battle” mechanic, which allows players to send previously encountered enemies into a separate dimensional dungeon to streamline combat and maximize uninterrupted exploration of the beautiful locations.
Fantasian‘s charm is further enhanced by the talents of celebrated composer Nobuo Uematsu, renowned for his work on the Final Fantasy series. Uematsu masterfully scored all 60 tracks, infusing them with many layers of a full orchestra and diverse synth melodies, complementing the magical world of Fantasian.
