Karakura Town, the birthplace of Ichigo Kurosaki, is a modest city with a medium-sized population. Most of its residents are unaware of the presence of ghosts and spiritual forces that exist within the town.

Falling under the jurisdiction of the 13th Division, Karakura Town is also known as District 3600 by the Shinigami. It is located on the current Jūreichi, or Important Spirit Ground, which is a point in the Human World with the highest concentration of spiritual beings. This made the town a target for Sōsuke Aizen, who aimed to destroy it in order to create a replica of the Ōken.

The history of Karakura Town dates back to around 100 years ago when Kisuke Urahara, Tessai Tsukabishi, and the eight Visored escaped Soul Society to avoid their punishments. They were later joined by Yoruichi Shihōin. Urahara established a small store called the Urahara Shop on the outskirts of the town, with the assistance of Tessai Tsukabishi. While it appears as an ordinary shop from the outside, it serves the needs of Shinigami. Beneath the shop, Urahara constructed an extensive training area for himself, his staff, and select clients. The Visored settled in an old, dilapidated warehouse and built their own training ground, where they honed their control over their inner Hollows and extended the duration of their Hollowfication.

In Karakura, you will find the following locations:

  • Karakura Hospital (northwest)
  • Karakura High School (northernmost)
  • Karakura Neighborhood (northwest)

Soul Society serves as an afterlife and spirit world, where Shinigami reside and the majority of souls dwell before being reincarnated into the Human World. Although commonly referred to as Soul Society by its inhabitants, this realm is actually the East Branch of a larger Soul Society, while an area in Reverse London is designated as the West Branch.

The Human World and Soul Society exist as parallel dimensions, each side complementing the other. It is rare for families separated by death to reunite in Soul Society unless they enter it simultaneously. Inhabitants of Soul Society live closely together, forming a community of unrelated individuals. Hunger is virtually nonexistent for those without spiritual powers, and aging is significantly slowed. Lifespans of 2000 years or more are not uncommon, particularly among Shinigami or other residents with high spiritual power. Children can be born in Soul Society just as they are in the Human World.

While people in Soul Society can be killed as ordinary humans can, they can also survive injuries that would typically be fatal. When a soul in Soul Society dies, it is reincarnated on Earth as a new human, with no memories of its previous existence.

In Soul Society, you will find the following locations:

  • Senkaimon (northwest)
  • Cave (north)
  • Central 46 (northeast)
  • Main Entrance (center)
  • Rukongai (south)
  • Waterfall (southeast)

Hueco Mundo, a dimension where Hollows and Arrancar typically reside, lies between the Human World and Soul Society. Its name translates to “Hollow World” in Spanish and “Hollow Sphere” in Japanese.

This realm is characterized by a perpetual night sky and an infinite white desert landscape. The terrain is composed of numerous dunes and boulders scattered throughout. The tree-like structures found in Hueco Mundo are not plants but rather quartz-like minerals. In this dimension, the moon exhibits the opposite lunar phase compared to the Human World. The expansive desert seemingly lacks water bodies and consists of rocky formations.

Similar to Soul Society, Hueco Mundo’s atmosphere contains a high concentration of Reishi, allowing smaller Hollows to thrive even without the presence of human souls for nourishment.

In Hueco Mundo, you will find the following locations:

  • Mountain (north)
  • Rib Cage (center)
  • Las Noches Castle (east)
  • Menos Forest (southeast)
  • The Abyss (southernmost)
