Fig, a crowdfunding platform that has played a significant role in supporting video game projects like Psychonauts 2 and Homeworld 3, is confirmed to go offline on May 29th.
With the upcoming closure, the Homeworld 3 team has communicated that access to the Homeworld 3 Fig site will be discontinued. Despite this, the developers maintain their commitment to provide consistent updates about Homeworld 3 via alternate channels.
In relation to backer rewards, the developers confirmed that Fig has supplied a comprehensive list of backers. This includes the necessary contact details and reward choices to ensure the delivery of the promised Fig rewards. The team will be switching their primary communications to email for future updates about the delivery of these rewards. They have encouraged backers to approve communications from email@newsletters.gearbox.com to avoid missing essential updates.
For backers requiring adjustments to their contact details or other Fig account information, the Homeworld 3 team has requested that they submit a ticket, selecting the “Fig Backer” option. They emphasized that, after the closure, Fig support will not be in a position to assist backers.
Regarding Homeworld 3’s development updates, the team has expressed enthusiasm in continuing to share the game’s progress. To this end, they are creating new sections on Homeworld Universe that will serve as a repository for content previously shared via Fig updates. The team plans to post regular quarterly updates on Homeworld Universe and the Homeworld 3 Steam Page in the future.
The Psychonauts 2 team also shared their contingency plans for the Fig website going offline on May 28th. They acknowledged a few remaining backer rewards, such as plushies, art books, and physical editions, that need to be distributed.
After May 28th, all communications concerning the Psychonauts 2 campaign will be sent from pr@doublefine.com and/or orders@fangamer.com. Backers wishing to make contact have been directed to reach out to support@doublefine.com.
In order to preserve the record of project updates, the team has transferred all such updates to the Psychonauts 2 page on the Double Fine website, creating an easy-to-access hub for backers. Future updates will be published here and via email updates from pr@doublefine.com.
The Psychonauts 2 team recommended that backers check their Fig messages one final time to retrieve any remaining codes or links. They also assured backers that a final reminder message will be sent out at the end of the week to help smooth the transition, apologizing for any inconvenience caused by this sudden change.
