Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes – Definitive Edition, a remake of the old school adventure and puzzle RPG from Capybara Games, will officially release on July 20th, 2023. The Definitive Edition will feature all of the game’s DLC, new character portraits, and quality-of-life improvements such as a reworked online mode.
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes originally launched over a decade ago for the Nintendo DS, which might seem a little obscure. But it remains a memorable addition to the Might & Magic series.
Thanks to developer and publisher Dotemu, a definitive edition will be available on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. You can watch today’s new release date and gameplay trailer on the Dotemu YouTube channel:
This turn-based strategy game blends a lot of RPG themes and modifiers with elements of tile matching and tabletop combat. It made plenty of sense on the DS, which did its best to make full use of its dual screen gimmick.
Today’s trailer shows just how much the devs were able to translate and update such features, while keeping a strong sense of fidelity. The same goes for the visuals, where fans should enjoy the remarkable new details. The modernized lighting, finely tuned colors, environments and battle effects are all gorgeous and create a better sense of depth.
Most of the changes seem to be minor tweaks or expansions. Today’s trailer emphasizes the reworked online mode, where the game hopes to thrive the most. Despite an expansive story, pitting players against each other will certainly create a better challenge. The gameplay loop is relatively simple, but it’s flexible enough for players to get fairly creative and devious.
Since the game began on the DS, it’s terrific to see it will finally reach the Nintendo Switch, where its breezy gameplay will surely succeed the most.
