After three years of digital-only events, QuakeCon is making a highly anticipated return as an in-person convention from August 10 to August 13, 2023, at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. QuakeCon, a yearly convention organized by ZeniMax Media, celebrates and promotes major franchises of id Software and other ZeniMax-owned studios. It is renowned for its large, bring-your-own-computer (BYOC) LAN party event and competitive tournament, attracting thousands of gamers worldwide.

Marty Stratton, Studio Head at id Software, expressed his excitement to see the QuakeCon community in person again and celebrate games with them. For its return, QuakeCon 2023 will focus on the fan-favorite BYOC experience, which has made the event the best gaming gathering for over 25 years.

This year’s QuakeCon will be a ticketed-only event, with attendance limited to pre-registered BYOC guests. The convention will not feature an exhibit hall or General Admission for 2023. Instead, it will emphasize the in-person BYOC experience, offering a reimagined and upgraded LAN party, a variety of activities, and meetups for both old and new friends. For those unable to attend, a full slate of programming will be streamed live on Twitch from the BYOC floor.

In addition to the BYOC, other fan-favorite activities such as Tabletop Village, BYOC community events, and the QuakeCon Finals Party will return for ticketed attendees. The annual esports finale of the Quake World Championships featuring Quake Champions will also be hosted at the event, along with various vendors and experiences to support the BYOC. More information about the full program, features, activities, and layout for the show will be released soon.

QuakeCon relies heavily on volunteers for organizing the event and has historically been known as the “Woodstock of gaming” and a week of “peace, love, and rockets!” The 25th QuakeCon event, initially planned for August 2020, was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, an online QuakeCon replaced the live show in August 2020.
