Speed Crew, an upcoming indie party game about racing and pit crews from Ukraine-based developer and publisher Wild Fields, will now launch on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox in Q1 2024.

These versions were originally expected this year, and an exact release date was not confirmed for next year. In a new post from the official Wild Fields Twitter feed, the devs have cited the need to “fine-tune” the game for each of those platforms.

The devs further state that an additional game mode is in development for the full release to enjoy alongside the main campaign. The nature of this new mode wasn’t made clear. Here’s the full statement from today’s Wild Fields post:

The devs were relatively vague in today’s delay post, so it’s still unclear just how serious the porting issues are. However, it is a surprise that the PC version wasn’t released first. Speed Crew already launched on the Nintendo Switch on June 8th, 2023, and reviews have been pretty solid. Like any delayed game, if it requires more time for a functional experience, it’s definitely worth the wait.

The devs hoped to soften the blow for disappointed fans with news of another game mode. But the official Steam page had already mentioned the devs were planning on “updates and DLCs with additional levels and game modes.”

Speed Crew is a chaotic, cooperative party game about fixing cars as quickly as possible. It’s a very flexible premise, and the nature of the racing genre implies there could be some more competitive ideas in the works. This would be similar to typical party games like Fall Guys, which recently released a new teaser trailer for this week’s Fall Force Update.
