Rain World ‘Downpour’ DLC Set for a July 11th Console Release

Along with the release of Rain World on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One next month, developer Videocult and publisher Akupara Games will also introduce the latest expansion for this 2D platformer game on PS4 and the aforementioned console platforms.

Drawing inspiration from classic 16-bit games, Rain World challenges players to navigate treacherous environments, evade vicious predators, and discover new lands teeming with strange creatures and buried mysteries as a small and soft slugcat. Maneuvering through an unforgiving world, players will be required to implement clever decision-making in catching their own prey and avoiding the jaws of hungry predators. Learning the ecosystem and turning their strengths to their advantage, will be crucial to the player’s survival in Rain World.

Rain World: Downpour, the game’s most recently released DLC, enriches the Rain World experience by introducing five new playable characters, each equipped with unique abilities. In this expansion, slugcats have adapted to the harsh conditions alongside evolved predators. In addition, players will be challenged to survive new environmental conditions, dangers and explore uncharted territory. Originally launched for PC in January 2023, Rain World: Downpour will finally be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on July 11th, coinciding with the base game’s release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

Rain World: Downpour also introduces an array of exciting new features, including challenging one-time scenarios, a randomizer featuring complex quests to complete, and local co-op support. Additionally, the DLC also features a Challenge Mode for players looking to test their limits as well a Safari Mode for those looking for a chill experience in Rain World. Optional mechanical additions are also introduced, allowing for a new spin on the Rain World experience. This includes tutorialized hints, alternate routing options, a new map system, handy collectibles tracker for storyline completion, and more.
