Record of Ragnarok is a fantasy, action, and mythology-based manga from the creators Takumi Fukui, Shinya Umemura, and Ajichika. In an official trailer and article, Warner Bros. Japan revealed additional details about the second animation season.
The announcement trailer showcases where the story left off, the new characters introduced in season 2, and some of their abilities.
The storyline of Record of Ragnarok is quite simple. Every thousand years, the gods from around the world gather to decide whether they should wipe out humanity. As humanity’s selfishness disgusted them, they decided to kill all humans. However, before they can enact this, Brunhilde, one of the Valkyries of Valhalla, interrupts the meeting to give humanity a chance at survival.
Thus begins the event known as Ragnarok, where the strongest 13 mortal warriors fight against gods in a one-on-one match. Therefore, it’s up to humanity’s strongest warriors to save all of humankind from untimely destruction.
While the storyline for this anime has many similar elements to Mortal Kombat, it is unique and filled with action and other fantasy elements that make it enjoyable.
In Season 2 of Record of Ragnarok, they will introduce four new characters–Buddha, Heracles, Jack the Ripper, and Raiden Tameemon.
