RED ART GAMES is set to bring the physical edition of Castle of Shikigami 2 to the west

Castle of Shikigami 2 is originally a 2003 arcade shooter developed by Alfa System for the Sega NAOMI arcade system board. It eventually made its way to the Nintendo GameCube in Japan, as well as the Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. The game was released in North America on the PlayStation 2 by XS Games as Castle Shikigami 2, and in Europe as Castle Shikigami 2: War of the Worlds.

In Castle of Shikigami 2, players will select one of seven characters, each with distinct abilities, and use their weapons, the special Shikigami attack, and bombs to destroy the enemy. It also features a Tension Bonus System, which enables players to achieve high scores by coming near the enemy or enemy bullets. Players may also compete against a friend for the highest score in local multiplayer.

An English version of Castle of Shikigami 2 with an updated translation, developed by Alfa System and Cosmo Machia and published by Komodo, was previously made available for PC via Steam back in December 2021. This new version of the game also includes a “New Entry Mode,” “Dramatic Change Mode” as well as “Arcade Mode.”

Last year, it was announced that Castle of Shikigami 2 would be released on the Nintendo Switch with a physical edition on April 13th, 2023. Until today, Castle of Shikigami 2‘s physical edition was only available for pre-order in Japan. However, RED ART GAMES has recently announced that they will distribute the physical edition in the West.

As of now, the retail price of the Castle of Shikigami 2 western physical release is unknown. In addition, RED ART GAMES has not indicated whether or not the physical release will coincide with the digital release of Castle of Shikigami 2 on the Nintendo Switch. Instead, the publisher has simply stated that further information will be provided soon.
