Goblins often get a bad reputation in games because adventurers will needlessly slaughter them in the hopes of experience, leading to their near extinction. Players will take on the job of helping them to thrive and create the next generations in this new title, which has a demo that’s available on Steam starting today through August 3.
The demo looks to include some of the standard mechanics in Goblin Stone like the side-scroll marching of the little goblins and their fights against a variety of enemies. These enemies seem to range from large bugs that are the size of the goblins to humans in the standard adventurer class formats meant to show the opposite side of the typical experience.
Goblin Stone received multiple awards at several professional conventions like GDWC and One Voice UK. The storybook art style is unique and the trait breeding mechanics are unique and potentially innovative. Players will also build up their bases and use strategic combat to ensure that their group of goblins is able to survive in the world on their own.
In addition to the beautiful fairy-tale style, the game’s story is fully narrated, allowing players to be fully immersed in this unique narrative. The music that’s paired with it comes from Peter McConnell, who has worked on titles like Hearthstone, Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, and other Double Fine games.
The title doesn’t currently have a release date outside of sometime this year, but players who are interested can download the demo for a short time. Keep an eye on the Orc Chop and Curve Games social media pages, as well as Try Hard Guides, for all the latest information about Goblin Stone.
