According to exclusive reporting from Windows Central, the next installment in the long-running Call of Duty series will be another entry in the popular Black Ops subfranchise. Codenamed “Black Ops 6” internally, the game is supposedly set during the Gulf War and will focus on the CIA’s involvement in the conflict.

Call of Duty 2024 will transport players back to the early 1990s, placing them amidst the backdrop of the Gulf War. The game will delve into the United States’ role in the conflict, exploring the CIA’s covert operations and the complexities of the geopolitical landscape at the time.

In a departure from recent Call of Duty titles that have leaned towards current and near-future technology, Black Ops 6 will embrace a more traditional military combat approach, featuring familiar Black Ops gadgetry and weaponry. The game will also reportedly revive the popular round-based zombie modes, much to the delight of fans.

Leaks suggest that Call of Duty 2024 will bring back remastered maps from previous Black Ops entries, including Grind and WMD.
