RiffTrax: The Game, Wide Right Interactive’s multiplayer party game based on the hit comedy series RiffTrax, will launch pre-orders for new physical editions on July 11th, 2023. The physical release will be available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, and pre-orders will close on August 13th, 2023.
RiffTrax: The Game originally launched in 2022, and is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox One. Here’s the promo image from publisher Limited Run Games’ announcement tweet:

RiffTrax: The Game was unexpected to begin with, since the IP is more of an underground hit. RiffTrax is an incredible follow-up to the classic Mystery Science Theater 3000, which also fills obscure movies with hilarious commentary.
However, riffing is a tricky skill. In order to help out the players, the game does let them select written riffs. This makes it more accessible, since RiffTrax: The Game was probably introduced to the party game lineup by someone already familiar with the show. But the highlight of the game is the friendly competition, as players vote on the best riffs.
It’s an easygoing game that has more content than it really needed. And there are plenty of clips that are funny enough without commentary, though very inspiring. It’s akin to playing something like Drawful in a Jackbox Party Pack.
RiffTrax: The Game features a wide range of vintage movies, many of which were probably last seen on VHS. So, this makes physical releases a natural fit.
Unfortunately, the only extra incentive seems to be a coupon for actual RiffTrax episodes, as suggested by today’s promo image. There were so many opportunities to get more imaginative with something this wacky and witty. Hopefully, the physical editions at least invite newcomers.
