Roblox is paving the way for innovation and enhanced earning opportunities for creators as they work towards a community-driven Marketplace. To facilitate this vision, Roblox has introduced Limiteds for creators in their User-Generated Content (UGC) Program. Limiteds enable creators to control the scarcity of their creations by specifying the quantity available.

In addition to earning from creating and selling items, creators can now benefit from a 10% original creator payout every time a Limited item is resold. This change aims to promote a healthy marketplace dynamic that benefits creators, buyers, and sellers alike.

To encourage the production of high-quality items and mindful quantity management, an upfront payment is required before Limited items are published. This payment, unique to Limiteds, depends on the quantity published and the asset type. When an item is sold, creators receive a proportional refund of this upfront payment, which is deducted from Roblox’s 30% platform share.

According to Roblox, the payment amounts may change in the future. The share of earnings for the original sale of Limiteds remains the same as other transactions on the platform. The creator receives 30%, the seller or distributor gets 40%, and the platform takes 30%, with a portion of the upfront payment refunded to the creator.

To maintain a healthy and diverse marketplace, Roblox’s Program Guidelines prohibit the creation of items overly similar to existing items. This includes republishing already published items as Limiteds, republishing the same Limited item, and copying items from other creators or Roblox. Violating these guidelines may result in non-refunded upfront payments, removal of copied items from the Marketplace, or removal from the UGC Program.

Roblox eagerly anticipates the creative outcomes of this new feature and encourages community feedback as they continue to develop the Marketplace.
