Roblox Doors introduced a special event for April Fools’ Day 2023 called the “Super Hard Mode Update.” This joke event, which runs for about a week and remains playable in private servers according to LSplash, adds a new “SUPER HARD MODE” to the game, increasing its difficulty significantly.

The event brings new items, such as the Holy Hand Grenade and Shield Potions. The Holy Hand Grenade, an alternative Crucifix, is exclusive to the “SUPER HARD MODE.” It bounces on the ground and emits a “Hallelujah” sound effect before exploding in a flash of white light, killing entities within range while playing the Roblox death sound. This item references the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” and other media where it has appeared, such as Worms or Terraria.

Shield Potions, inspired by Fortnite, provide extra health in the form of an additional life bar. Mini Shield Potions grant up to 50 shield HP, while Big Shield Potions offer up to 100 shield HP. Both types give a speed effect for 0.5 seconds after consumption.

Several humorous changes accompany the event, such as alterations to characters and game elements, including the appearance of banana peels that trip the player, dealing 5 damage. The Guiding Light no longer lights up doors or items, making certain tasks more challenging. In the library, the code now has 10 digits, with the Solution Paper offering 11 scrambled digits, requiring players to figure out the correct combination.

To get a sense of what you will be in for, be sure to take a look at the video by DV Plays:

Players attempting to purchase the Scanner in the shop for 1,000 knobs will be met with a sign stating “OUT OF STOCK APRIL FOOLS!” upon trying to buy it. Additionally, the Super Hard Mode event introduces a new badge called Survival The Jeff The Killer.

The event also features numerous Easter eggs, such as modified character appearances, references to internet memes, and altered game mechanics. Notably, attempting to enter The Rooms in Super Hard Mode redirects players to another Roblox game, Survive and Kill the Killers in Area 51!!!, and dying in Super Hard Mode does not increase the player’s death count.
