Roblox Islands has unveiled its latest update, featuring the addition of a Hardcore Mode designed to provide a more challenging, grind-intensive experience for solo players. Currently, two exclusive rewards are available for hardcore gamers, with the developers hinting at the introduction of more rewards and possibly a hardcore cooperative mode in the future.
Initiating the Hardcore Mode is straightforward. When creating a new profile, players can choose the third option for Hardcore Mode. Once selected, the new profile will feature an icon associated with this mode. Visual differences distinguish hardcore players from others, including red-colored sidebar icons, a purple chat text color, and restricted access to specific game features.
The rules for this challenging mode are available under the profile tab, accessed by clicking the green “Rules” button. These rules impose certain restrictions on hardcore players. For instance, they cannot trade or craft vending machines, and they’ll face mobs that inflict extra damage. Moreover, death in the game results in the loss of coins, and they cannot give or receive building permissions.
The update also introduces a new Hardcore Mob named the Void Crop Eater, which starts appearing on hardcore players’ islands after reaching combat level 30, exclusively at night. These mobs primarily target harvestable crops, threatening to devour them. If no crops are available, the Crop Eaters will despawn. Despite their intimidating presence, they are non-hostile towards players. In future updates, players will gain the ability to craft Pesticide Spray tools to protect their crops from these predators.
Adding to the hardcore experience, two new achievements have been introduced exclusively for hardcore players. These include the Master of Hardcore Medal and the Moth Glider Pet Egg, with more rewards and achievements planned for future updates.
This update also enhances the user-following feature. Now, if a player can’t follow other users, the game will provide a reason. Joining or following private islands or banned users will also result in a notification before teleportation instead of a kick upon arrival.
Earlier bugs have been addressed in this update, including the inability to view travel merchant shops and breed vultures. In the game’s Crop Market, wheat prices have increased, while watermelon prices have seen a slight drop. Additionally, there is an intriguing whisper about potential changes to potato prices, hinting at further developments in the game.
You can find the official patch notes below for the update, which were released on the official Islands Discord.
