Rocket League has announced that the Ferrari 296 GTB will enter the game tomorrow, August 31st. This marks the first Ferrari model available in-game, finally joining the equally popular Lamborghini. The full Ferrari bundle will cost 2000 credits.
Here’s the announcement from Rocket League’s Twitter feed, which includes a brief teaser for the upcoming vehicle:
Rocket League’s playful gameplay has invited a lot of interesting crossovers, with IP ranging from July’s James Bond tie-in to recent leaks about the Fortnite partnership.
Sometimes, it can be easy to forget that special makes like McLaren get plenty of love in-game too. The new Ferrari 296 GTB is a breath of fresh air amid the waves of pop culture in Rocket League. Ferrari is both famous and gorgeous to begin with.
However, while the 2000 credit price tag is typical for Rocket League, it’s also probably a little steep for the content. Fans who invest in the Ferrari bundle will get a Ferrari Antenna, Ferrari 296 GTB Dominus Hitbox, Engine Audio, and Wheels.
There’ll also be an Assetto Fiorano Decal, but this is all standard fare. Also, the official blog post clearly states that the Ferrari 296 GTB “cannot be customized with other branded content”. It’s generally a bit easier to convince players to pay up for recognizable IP, which is more likely to have die-hard fans than Ferrari, which would mainly appeal more to car enthusiasts.
Still, it’s clear that Rocket League wants to celebrate the brand by adding free Ferrari Player Banners for everyone in the Item Shop, even for those who don’t purchase the Ferrari Bundle. Players will have until September 6th to decide if they want the Ferrari Bundle, before it leaves the shop.
At the very least, the in-game model looks like a terrific adaptation, and the engine sounds absolutely tremendous. You can read more about Rocket League’s latest updates or leaks in our news section!
