Games building off the classic Rogue formula are becoming more common, but developers are finding new ways to innovate and deepen the gameplay. Madshot, which has received its v1.0 release on Steam and Switch today, is a fast-paced and acrobatic Rogue-lite that will allow players to fight against a range of Eldritch horrors.

Playing as a purveyor of the occult whose research went too far, the player will need to jump, dodge, and shoot their way through each new level. The pursuit of eternal life may cause the player to lose their life as they struggle to beat the monsters they’ve unleashed. Developer Overflow states that no two playthroughs will be the same, with the world changing with each new attempt.

As opposed to other Rogue-lites, it seems as if Madshot has a strong focus on acrobatic moves as the character flips and dances across each level. There’s even some kind of ability that allows players to summon the tentacles sprouting from the character’s face, allowing them to climb across walls and up through the ruins.

With over 50 enemy types and a range of bosses that players can encounter across a variety of levels, the fights are sure to be intense and exciting. There are also a wide number of weapons that have hundreds of upgrades to make sure that you’re properly overpowered before taking on the threats. Through the procedurally generated levels, all of these factors combine to create unique experiences for each player.

Players can purchase the v1.0 version of Madshot on Steam and the Nintendo Switch.
