Publisher Skybound Games has announced to push back the release of their upcoming party-based RPG, WrestleQuest.

Developed by Mega Cat Studios, WrestleQuest features a blend of professional wrestling combat mechanics and RPG fantasy, all of which takes place in a vast pixel art universe. In this game, players will go on a journey to become a world wrestling champ by training, learning, and slamming to the top of the pro wrestling food chain. Players will also encounter wild realms and exotic monsters, as the story progresses beyond the ring.

WrestleQuest was originally set for a May 2023 release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. However, Mega Cat Studios has recently revealed that WrestleQuest‘s launch has been moved to Summer 2023. The exact release date is expected to be announced later this month.

Mega Cat Studio issued the following statement on the official Skybound Games Twitter account:

As we raced towards the May 2023 finish line to bring this giant of a game up to our standard across all platforms, we also secured a new partnership we are extremely excited about. Unfortunately, this development also resulted in certain issues outside of our control. As such, we wanted to get an update out to everyone that has continued to wave their foam fingers in anticipation.

After discussions with Skybound, we agreed we will be moving the launch of the game to this summer. We are expecting to announce the official shiny new confirmed date later this month. While we are disappointed that we couldn’t share the entirety of WrestleQuest with you sooner like we hoped, we firmly believe this is the right choice with respect to our players and the sweat, sweat, and more sweat we have poured into building the best game we have ever made. We can’t wait to get your hands on it!

Game development has always been a complex process, with various unforeseen issues that can arise and result in a delay in the release of the game. It is nice that the developers of WrestleQuest have been very transparent about the delay, and have assured fans that they are working hard to make sure that the game is worth the wait.

Mega Cat Studios has also revealed that the added time has allowed the developers to add in new and improved features, including an entirely redone UI, accessibility options, a fully updated world map, enhanced visuals, more sweat, and a gorilla press quantity of game balancing. The developers are also proud to share that WrestleQuest will feature over 50 hours of gameplay content, ensuring that players will have plenty to keep them engaged.

You may add WrestleQuest to your Steam wishlist to be alerted when it becomes available
