Excitement builds up as another classic Nickelodeon franchise is being adapted into a video game. During the recent MIX Next Showcase, the news came to light that the iconic series Rugrats is getting its own retro-style level-based platformer titled Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, set to launch in 2024 for PC and consoles.
In Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, players will join the beloved crew of babies, featuring Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil, as they see a commercial for the new Reptar video game and pretend that they are in a video game of their own. Through the power of imagination, the babies transform Tommy’s house into a video game world full of action, excitement, and adventure.
With a total of six unique levels throughout the Pickles’ residence, players will guide the babies by strategically using each of their distinctive abilities to bypass all challenges that await. As they progress, players will collect the required Reptar coins to unlock the mysterious Reptar door.
Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland is playable solo or with a friend in co-op play. The game will also allow players to switch between HD and 8-bit Graphics. The HD version features hand-drawn animations to match the cartoon’s style.
While the latest trailer did not reveal extensive gameplay details, Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland seems promising for those seeking a casual platformer experience.
Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland marks the beginning of the multi-game partnership between The MIX Games and Paramount. Meanwhile, fans can also look forward to a limited physical edition of the game to be published by Limited Run Games. Adding to the excitement, attendees of PAX West will have the chance to try out a playable demo of Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland at the Limited Run Games’ booth this weekend.
