It’s been over 16 years since the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl, with the game acquiring and growing a cult following ever since. News has been coming out recently about the developments of the long-awaited sequel, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: The Heart of Chornobyl, with a new storefront potentially leaking the release date.

According to the PLAION store, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is scheduled to release on the first of December this year, just in time for the holidays. While this could be a placeholder date, other items on the shop with no set release date use Dec. 31, similar to other popular storefronts. This was first noticed by gaming journalist Andrew Marmo on Twitter.

According to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Twitter account, players will be able to play a demo of the game for themselves from August 23 to 27 at Gamescom. The developer could also have some form of announcement at the different showcases as well, but this is yet to be seen. The fact that players will be able to try out the demo for the first time is a good sign of the game’s progress, at the very least.

If the release date is coming in the next few months, then the marketing should ramp up and we’ll hear more about the upcoming title. Regardless, check back at Try Hard Guides for all the latest information about the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
