SaGa Emerald Beyond, the next installment in the beloved RPG franchise from Square Enix, has released another trailer ahead of its appearance at 2023’s Tokyo Game Show. The trailer shows off some new glimpses of gameplay and cinematics not shown in last week’s Nintendo Direct.
SaGa Emerald Beyond is slated to release in 2024, though an exact release date isn’t confirmed. It will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation. You can watch today’s new trailer on the Square Enix YouTube channel:
SaGa Emerald Beyond has gradually been releasing more details about each of the game’s central heroes ever since the recent Nintendo Direct. Thus far, these include puppetmaster Tsunanori Mido, witch-in-training Ameya, immortal vampire Siugnas, the mech Diva No.5, and a duo of neophyte cops.
Today’s trailer shows off brief story beats, cinematics, and gameplay for a variety of these characters, and the animation is absolutely stunning. SaGa Emerald Beyond builds its own world without losing too much of the franchise’s mold, so fans should be fairly pleased.
According to an upcoming SaGa Stage event on YouTube, SaGa Emerald Beyond will open all of the incoming news for the franchise, and there will even be a special live musical performance.
It’s a shame that SaGa Emerald Beyond doesn’t appear to be coming to Xbox, which fans quickly noticed. It’s odd that ports are expected for every other major platform, so some fans are concerned that an Xbox version may not be released at all.
It’s worth noting that most of the SaGa series hasn’t been available on Xbox, aside from exceptions like Romancing SaGa 2 and 3. But there’s still a chance the Xbox version is simply having serious technical issues.
