I Expect You To Die 3: Cog in the Machine, an upcoming sequel to the hit VR puzzle series from developer and publisher Schell Games, has just been revealed with a brand-new gameplay trailer.

Although an exact release date was not confirmed, today’s trailer does announce the sequel is due in 2023, and it will be available on Steam VR or Meta Quest 2. Fans of the series can wishlist the game now on Steam. Here’s the full trailer from Schell Games’ official YouTube channel:

I Expect You To Die is an obvious reference to the classic Bond villain from Goldfinger, so it’s no wonder that the series has been full of so much charm and humor. In fact, it may even make the retro spy films that inspired this game more accessible for newer audiences.

The wait between the first and second installment of I Expect You To Die was twice as long than today’s announced sequel. Schell Games has definitely forged their own flagship series, although they are probably recognized by mainstream gamers for their development on Among Us VR.

Schell Games had already refined their VR abilities with spies. The mechanics in each I Expect You To Die title have only improved with time, and they were certainly smooth to begin with.

The puzzles were also very creative, and well balanced, so that players wouldn’t become too bored or frustrated. The devs’ willingness to indulge some of the more fantastical elements of classic spy entertainment offered them more freedom, resulting in some genuinely funny and innovative escapes. Today’s trailer proves that the devs should be just as consistently clever as always.
