Scheduled for Early Access availability on October 18, 2023, Sea of Survivors introduces players to a persistent maritime world where their ships must keep sailing—stopping is not an option. The game centers around dodging and combating a myriad of sea monsters and pirate adversaries to accumulate experience, upgrade the ship, and ultimately, endure in the ever-hostile waters.

Players take the helm of a pirate ship and are given the freedom to sail in any direction, but they must also contend with the continual threat of pirates and sea monsters. Destroying these threats allows players to gain experience and level up, which in turn offers opportunities for ship upgrades. The journey isn’t just about survival; the game includes a range of treasures to discover and curses to unlock, adding complexity and challenges to the experience.

Management of crew members stands as another integral aspect of Sea of Survivors. The game currently allows players to start building their crew through the demo version, with the promise that these early recruits will carry over into the full game upon its release. Each member of the crew has a unique set of skills, name, and appearance. Crew members gain experience and improve their skills over time, enhancing their usefulness for the voyages. Additionally, shipwrecked pirates may appear during gameplay, offering the chance to expand the crew further.

The developers have indicated that more features are planned for the Early Access stage, including new types of treasures, curses, and weapons. Players will have the option to customize their ships with various upgrades like rapid-fire harpoons and high-impact lightning strikes. The game also introduces the concept of an “archipelago,” a changing environment that adds new layers of strategy and exploration. Players will have the opportunity to go up against formidable new bosses, described as the game’s most challenging encounters to date.

As for additional content and goals, Sea of Survivors will offer a bounty board situated in the players’ hideouts. This board will provide various challenges that, when completed, unlock both in-game content and achievements on the player’s Steam profile. All these discoveries and achievements get added to a player’s collection log, adding another layer of engagement to the game.

Finally, the developers expressed gratitude for the support received so far and encourage those interested to wishlist the game on Steam, stating that it significantly aids their efforts. With its entry into Early Access, Sea of Survivors aims to offer a rich pirate-themed gameplay experience where survival, exploration, and crew management coalesce into a cohesive adventure.
