Season: A Letter to the Future, an upcoming third-person adventure drama, has just released a new story trailer featuring some emotionally charged narration. Season: A Letter to the Future will launch on January 31st, 2023. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Here’s the new trailer from PlayStation’s YouTube channel:

Developed and published by Scavengers Studio, Season: A Letter to the Future seems to be largely driven by its profound premise and storytelling. So, although today’s trailer further reinforces just how ambitious Scavengers Studio has been, the reward just might outweigh the risks.

It can be difficult to tackle dramatic themes head on, since overreaching can sometimes make the experience fall a little flat. Generally, emotional beats are gently peppered into some other overarching narrative instead, in order to make gameplay more accessible. And there are many games, both indie and AAA alike, that manage it.

However, Season: A Letter to the Future does have a compelling premise. A cataclysm, as all endings do, forces the characters to confront the broader meaning of things. And all of the trailers leading up to this month’s launch have been very promising.

Season: A Letter to the Future appears to be more of a visual novel with the mechanics and presentation of an adventure game, and those two elements should pair well together. The art design is clearly gorgeous, with scenic and sprawling environments. The music is soothing and contemplative, and the performance in today’s narrated trailer alone was satisfying.

Season: A Letter to the Future is catering to a niche audience, but fans of similar games will probably be very pleased. Immersion seems to play a large role in the game, so the PlayStation 5 features should supplement the experience.
