Total War: PHARAOH, a brand-new installment in the popular action strategy franchise from developer Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA, has just been revealed with a cinematic trailer. A release date has not been confirmed, but it’s due sometime in October 2023. It will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Fans can also pre-order the game today, including a Standard, Dynasty, or Deluxe Edition. These will include further DLC, which would roll out post-launch over time.
According to the game’s official page on the Total War store, a DLC roadmap won’t be revealed until later on, but the Digital Soundtrack that comes with a Dynasty or Deluxe purchase will be released alongside the game. You can watch today’s new announcement trailer on the SEGA YouTube channel:
Total War: PHARAOH turns the action to ancient Egypt, and although today’s teaser is purely cinematic, it does reveal quite a bit. To begin with, it’s clear that the scope of the grand strategy will be maintained, with epic clashing armies. The tone will be rather serious, and the parallel plight of the critter reinforces a sense of struggle.
Naturally, the visuals are also a real standout. The graphics are absolutely stunning, with extreme detail in the slightest grain of dirt and superior lighting effects. Cinematic clips are rarely an accurate representation of in-game visual quality. But it feels very likely that Total War: PHARAOH could become the most immersive title yet as technology advances.
Also, the game’s Total War store page elaborates on an exciting new Campaign Customization feature that will let players determine starting positions, resources, natural disasters and more. This will be more accessible for newer players, and allow longtime fans to truly challenge themselves.
