Shroud is set to return to the competitive first-person shooter scene. This time, fans of the “one of the finest aimers” will see him competing as a part of the Sentinels Valorant roster for the Valorant Champions Tour North America Last Chance qualifiers.

Recently, Sentinels’ official Twitter account made an announcement that Shroud will be joining their Valorant roster in a video teaser. The announcement came surprisingly as many have been under the impression that the Sentinels Valorant team had already been finalized for the VCT 2022 LCQ after announcing the addition of Eric “Kanpeki” Xu, who will be taking the place of Jared “zombs” Gitlin in the team.

Michael “shroud” Grzesiek, gained prominence as a former professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player for several eSports organizations. Shroud was a key contributor to Cloud9’s success, helping the team finish in first place in ESL Pro League Season 4 in 2016 and in second place at ESL One Cologne in 2017. In 2018, Grzesiek decided to end his career as a professional CS:GO player and transitioned to a full-time content creator and streamer on Twitch. After years of being away from the competitive scene, Shroud will have his comeback, but now as a professional Valorant player for Sentinels.

Sentinels was regarded as one of the best teams in the world following their win in the first International event – Masters 1 in Reykjavik. However, the North American team has been in a tight spot in the VCT 2022 season and after failing to qualify for international events. Thankfully, Sentinels secured a spot for the 2022 NA LCQ with 45 circuit points after Ghost Gaming fell from seventh to eighth place.

The addition of Shroud to the lineup may have been the Sentinels’ trump card for the upcoming VCT LCQ match. Other sources also claim that Shroud will be replacing Hunter “SicK” Mims in the main Valorant roster for Sentinels. Meanwhile, esport reporter, George Geddes, tweeted that he has been informed that Shroud will be joining Sentinels in the Champions if they are successful in winning the VCT LCQ. Currently, the official Sentinels Valorant roster is as follows:

  • Tyson “TenZ” Ngo
  • Shahzeb “ShahZam” Khan
  • Hunter “SicK” Mims
  • Eric “Kanpeki” Xu
  • Michael “dapr” Gulino
  • Michael “shroud” Grzesiek
  • Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty (coach)

The North America Last Chance Qualifier for VALORANT Champions is expected to happen this August 2022. This season, ten teams, including Sentinels, will compete for a single spot in the season’s main event.
