Stealth games rarely get the love they deserve but the recently released Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew from Mimimi Games introduced unique recall mechanics that made it a lot of fun. However, despite the recent release, Mimimi Games has announced that it is planning to close its doors in the next few months after delivering the additional content for Shadow Gambit.
Mimimi made the announcement in a blog post before sharing it in a post on Twitter. The letter is penned by Managing Directors Johannes Roth and Dominik Abé. The letter shares the exhaustion that they’ve both felt recently, having been developing titles consistently for the last 15 years.
While the owners are focused on helping their current staff find new jobs, including paying a bonus for Shadow Gambit, they state that the competitive nature of the industry paired with managing a large-scale title proved to be too much for the developer.
While the developer has every intention to continue to support Shadow Gambit for the rest of the year, at least, Mimimi Games might not exist to support the game at all in 2024. However, it’s not a new story, with other developers recently announcing closure over an inability to work in the current gaming market.
