The Silent Hill series is infamous in gaming, scaring players with multiple games and movies in the last two decades. Now Konami is seeking to raise its famous series from the dead with the announcement of Silent Hill: Ascension and a new trailer being shown today at San Diego Comic-Con.

The trailer was leaked on Reddit following a public showing in a theater at Comic-Con, similar to the Spider-Man trailer reveal. The new Silent Hill: Ascension trailer gives a look at what players can expect from the story and characters, showing some form of ritual or seance between two women before they begin to fight.

In the trailer, one of the women, Rachel, seems much more eager to conduct the ritual than the other, Joy, cutting her partner’s hand and coaxing her to continue once she gets nervous. Rachel states that the woman didn’t respond to therapies, seemingly implying she is some form of caretaker. It’s revealed that the woman is part of the Foundation before the two women get into a fight to not continue the ritual.

Soon after, things go dark as the candles are extinguished and something can be seen creeping around the walls before Joy is completely enveloped by tentacles and seemingly killed by some large monster. Due to the recording off of a screen, it’s not the best way to view the trailer and it’s not clear what kind of monster Joy dies to.
