While 2023 has been an exceptional year for gaming, 2024 seems like it will be just as impressive with the indie and full title releases expected. Another title has joined the roster for early releases next year, with 2.5D hack-and-slash title Slave Zero X from developer Poppy Works is expected to release in Feb. 21, 2024 on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and GOG.

Slave Zero X is an action-packed side-scroller where players will take on the role of Shou as they merge with a Slave Unit Prototype to become a Devil in search of killing a false god. The title is the latest series in Dreamcast’s Devil series. As you work to take down the threat of dictator. SovKhan, players will need to sacrifice their humanity and a pound of flesh to get their revenge.

This new title from Poppy Works will take players on a unique adventure through the Megacity, with graphics and visuals that look as if they were heavily inspired by retro titles. The grunge feeling of the world also ensures that players are never too comfortable in this dystopian world. This is reflective of the characters’ likely own struggle with their new identity.

With different modes to enjoy throughout the Slave Zero X, there will be hours of violent and gory fun for players to enjoy. While the title innovates on the classic hack-and-slash formula, there’s enough here that classic and new fans of the genre can appreciate it.
