Solo Leveling is an incredibly popular manhwa (which are Korean comics) from DUBU (REDICE STUDIO), Chugong, and h-goon. Crunchyroll has announced that this popular fantasy, comedy, adventure, and action series will be made into a TV anime by A-1 Pictures, launching in 2023!
The official trailer showcases the main character, Jinwoo, and the beginning of his journey from an E-rank Hunter into something extraordinary through a series of snippets from the manhwa.
Solo Leveling follows the story of Jinwoo Sung, an E-ranked hunter, making him the lowest of the low. He is constantly looked down upon and has no money, abilities, job prospects, or future. Every time he enters a dungeon, he risks his life and gets hurt.
Things change when Jinwoo and his party find a hidden dungeon within a supposedly safe dungeon. Instead of turning back, they decide to progress into this unknown area. However, this is their downfall.
Inside this hidden dungeon is a darkness that takes everything from Jinwoo and his party. But it gives something unfathomable in return.
Waking up in the hospital, Jinwoo discovers that he has been “awakened” and has become a “player.” Because of this player status, he can see RPG elements that no one else can.
To level up, he is forced to partake in challenges and quests that have dire consequences if he doesn’t complete them. In doing so, he grows stronger and learns that there’s more to these dungeons and the world than they ever thought possible, and it’s up to him to save the entire world.
With over 14 million views on TappyToon Comics, this manhwa has many comedic and lovable moments. However, it contains dark themes, blood, and gore, so it should be read by mature audiences.
