The Sonic Team is set to launch the first of three Sonic Frontiers content updates this year on Wednesday, March 22 at 5 pm PT / Thursday, March 23 at 1 am CET. This update will feature the new Photo Mode, JukeBox, and new Challenge Modes.
With the Photo Mode, players will be able to capture memories of their journey in Sonic Frontiers. They may access this feature by heading to the pause menu and selecting Photo Mode, which will pause gameplay and bring up a freely moving camera where they may position the photo however they like.
One of the highlights of the March 22 Sonic Frontiers free update is the Jukebox, which will allow players to play their favorite Sonic tunes throughout the Starfall Islands. Some of the tracks included in the new Jukebox feature are as follows:
- Sega Sound Team, Tomoya Ohtani, Merry Kirk-Holmes – I’m Here (Sonic Frontiers)
- Crush 40 – Live & Learn (Sonic Adventure 2)
- Crush 40 – Open Your Heart (Sonic Adventure)
- Sega Sound Team, Tomoya Ohtani – Reach For The Stars (Sonic Colors Ultimate), and much more.
Meanwhile, players who have completed Sonic Frontiers‘ main story campaign will be able to unlock the new Challenge modes starting with the release of the first free DLC. The new challenge modes include the Cyber Space Challenge, a time-attack mode in which players compete against the clock to finish seven stages from each island (Kronos, Ares, Chaos), and the Battle Rush challenge, a timed-battle mode in which players rapidly defeat multiple rounds of enemies, Guardians, and Titans in one go.
Sonic Frontiers‘ 2023 content roadmap was first revealed in December 2022. This year’s content roadmap started off light as there is nothing extremely major to be introduced this week. The next update is expected to be bigger as it will see the celebration of Sonic’s birthday, in addition to new playable characters and more. Specifics about release timing and content of the next updates will be revealed at a later date.
