The Forest was released in 2018 and became widely popular thanks to many streamers and other content creators playing it. Many users loved the physics, exploration, and a deep story that paid off in the end. Now the sequel, Sons of the Forest, has launched its official Steam page with a release date coming this October.

Endnight Games announced this via a tweet from their official Twitter account. In the same tweet, Endnight confirmed that the game would be released in October of this year.

In Sons of the Forest, players will take on the role of a rescuer who’s been sent to another island in search of a missing billionaire. Players will be able to craft, hunt, and survive through the terrifying wilderness of this new island.

Like the first game, Sons of the Forest promises players an open world that they can tackle or build on to their heart’s content. Players won’t be alone, however, as the cannibalistic mutants are back and better than ever. Not only them, but new and evolved mutants are ready to crawl out of the caves and after you. Players will have a whole new range of weapons to fight the demons and their mutated friends.

Another popular returning feature is the ability to bring your best buds to the new island with you. Players will be able to build and craft with friends, creating new memories while you fight to survive the worst the forest can throw at you. Exploring caves is less scary when you have friends who keep watch behind you.

Sons of the Forest will also feature new dynamic seasons where the whole island will change. Players will be able to find excess food in the spring and summer, while they’ll need to store resources in the winter months. This new mechanic will add a whole new complexity to the way the game plays.
