Sony Interactive Entertainment Announces Strategic Partnership with Guild Wars Developer NCSOFT

Sony Interactive Entertainment and South Korean publisher and developer, NCSOFT, have signed a strategic global business partnership, with a focus on mobile gaming.

Sony Interactive Entertainment made a surprising announcement today, revealing a strategic global business partnership with NCSOFT, a prominent developer and publisher headquartered in Pangyo, Seongnam, South Korea. NCSOFT is well-known for distributing massively multiplayer online games, including popular titles like Lineage, AION, Blade & Soul, Guild Wars franchises, and various casual games. This exciting revelation came to light through a newly published article on SIE’s official website.

The CEOs of both companies, Taekjin Kim from NCSOFT and Jim Ryan from SIE have formally closed this strategic deal through a joint signing. This collaboration extends across different global business fields, with a particular focus on the mobile sector. The intent is to explore opportunities that leverage NCSOFT’s technological expertise and SIE’s global leadership in entertainment, fostering strategic synergy.

Before his retirement announcement, Ryan had been clear about ambitious targets for mobile gaming. He specifically outlined plans to build leading mobile development and publishing capabilities within SIE through strategic partnerships. The alliance with NCSOFT reflects a continued commitment to expanding into the mobile gaming market, reinforcing the notion that SIE’s plans are progressing and remain steadfast.
